As a small business we all strive to attract more customers and utilising social media is a great way to help get your brand out there. As a business owner you are probably already snowed under and the thought of more work may seem overwhelming, however if it brings in more customers or business then it's worth putting some time aside to implement these few strategies.
HOW TO GET MORE CUSTOMERS USING SOCIAL MEDIA
CREATE A FACEBOOK EVENT.
You don't actually have to put on an event as such it can be a special day sale i.e. "St Patrick's Day Sale". Facebook is making it harder to reach your audience without spending money, but with Facebook events, the platform reminds people your event is coming up and it also shows their friends in your location that the event is coming up. You can advertise your Facebook event on your website, to your own personal page and you can promote it with the Facebook boost.
ENGAGE WITH YOUR AUDIENCE
Social media isn't all about publishing content you need to engage with your audience on a daily basis. You can set up Google Alerts with you company name to see who is talking about you and a chance to respond. Always respond to comments on your social media platforms both good and bad (with the bad be very professional no matter how tempted you are otherwise). Also comment on your followers posts as well.
USE INTERESTING GRAPHICS
Be creative in your posts and source interesting graphics but it goes without saying you can't just download off the internet and use in your marketing. I purchase my photos from ADOBE, or I download free stock from www.pixabay.com and www.pexels.com and a lot of my photos I take myself. If you are familiar with www.canva.com they also supply a wide range of photos and illustrations as well as stock you can purchase one-off. Canva is my favourite online tool for creating social media posts and much more.
CREATE A COMPETITION
Competitions are popular on Instagram and Facebook. Just remember when you are doing a competition to make it as a game of skill not chance for legal reasons. For example you can put up a funny photo and ask your audience to give it a caption. Always be specific on:
What the prize is
Is it transferable
Will you post overseas
Is there a time limit when the prize can be used i.e. for a service
The prize value
Terms of the competition i.e. age restrictions
Be clear that the competition is not run by the social media platform
The dates and time the competition is open for
ASK YOUR CUSTOMERS TO SHARE PHOTOS OF THEMSELVES USING YOUR PRODUCTS
Encourage your current customers to submit photos of themselves wearing or using your products. Ask them to tag their photos with a hashtag i.e. #DebCarrDigital (I just made that up but you get the idea) for a chance to be featured on your brand's timeline.
CONNECT WITH INFLUENCERS TO SHOWCASE YOUR PRODUCTS
I really must stop using that word 'influencer' it's becoming rather boring to me now but for those 'influencers' who do have a genuine following, you can reach out to them via social media to see if they would be interested in reviewing and talking about your product or venue etc. On my blog www.sydneychic.com.au I am constantly requested to review products or attend events in the hope that I will publish something and I often do.
